The osteopath's profile
 |
My name is Pia Wittwer Blaser. I graduated from Unitec, NZ with a Master of Osteopathy (Honors) after 5 years of full-time study.
I am registered with the Osteopathic council of New Zealand and accredited with ACC and I am a member of ISOP (International Society for Osteopathic Practice; one of the two professional societies for osteopaths in New Zealand). |
Originally from Switzerland I was trained as a scientist and graduated from the University of Bern with a Master of Science in Microbiology before immigrating to New Zealand.
I wholeheartedly believe in the osteopathic philosophy which states that the body can heal itself; that we are much more than just the sum of our parts and that our physical structure, our mental state and the way we function are closely interrelated.
I believe that I can bring together the art and the science of osteopathy by starting from a firm background in scientific thinking and then expanding into an osteopathic approach to the whole body.
I am passionate about injury prevention, posture and taking responsibility for your own health and well-being. I consider myself a life-long learner and am always open for feedback and new experiences. This is one of the reasons why I try to keep a close eye on new research developments in the health field. |
